Hornsdale Wind Farm passes first frequency control trial with flying colours

Neoen Australia announces the successful completion of the first frequency control trial at its Hornsdale Windfarm Stage 2, validating the facility’s safety, security and reliability in energy production and delivery of renewable energy to the national electricity grid.

This milestone marks the first time a wind farm has been able to demonstrate the delivery of Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS) in Australia. FCAS are used by AEMO to sustain the frequency of electricity delivery into the nation’s electrical system, with the aim of maintaining a balance between electricity generation and national demand. Hornsdale Wind Farm Stage 2 FCAS trial was successfully executed in collaboration with AEMO, ARENA, and Siemens-Gamesa.

Neoen gets the financial green light on Coleambally Solar Farm

The achievement of financial close for the largest solar farm in NSW is another step towards Neoen’s goal of owning and operating 1 GW of assets in Australia.

Commissioned by Neoen and located in the Riverina region of New South Wales, construction on the project is set to begin in January 2018. 565,000 solar panels will be installed on 550 hectares of land. The solar farm will be connected to TransGrid’s high-voltage transmission network which sits at the centre of the national electricity grid, with TransGrid providing connection services under a 25-year agreement.

Zambia : beginning of works on a solar park

Neoen has closed the financing of its Zambian solar park with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – a member of the World Bank Group – and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Government’s development finance institution. Work has commenced on the 52-hectare, 54.3 MWp Bangweulu solar park, Zambia’s first high-power solar plant.

Ground-breaking in Jamaica

Andrew Wheatley, the Mayor of Westmoreland Municipal Corporation (His Worship Bertel Moore) and representatives from the regulator (Office of Utility Regulation) and Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd that Eight River Energy Company Ltd officially broke ground on its new 37MW solar farm.

Majority stakeholder of Eight River Energy Corporation, Neoen indicates that, once commissioned, this solar plant will be the largest in Jamaica and one of the largest in the Caribbean.
